I have this sub woofer for my stereo and my neighbours are complaining about the amount of bass. I really don't have it that loud, but i guess this apartment building is built with paper.. Is there any type of foam or material i could put under the speaker to lessen the amount of bass going through the floor??

Thanks

  1. Here's an idea that's crazy enough to work:

Put the subwoofer on an air mattress!  At least that would cut down the direct vibration from the speaker cabinet.

  2. Turn down the sub. Thats all you can do.

You need WEIGHT to contain subwoofer frequencies.  You cannot re-build the apartment so there is really nothing you can do.

  3. sound proof foam that will make the sound just be so you will be the only one that will be able to hear it put it in the room that you have your subwoofer in and it will look tacky but if you don't do something about it you will get kicked out. You can by that stuff at music stores.

  4. I don't get why he who holds the remote has so many thumbs down.  Basicly he is right.  Bass is vibrations and they will go right through the floor.  There is a lot you can do but since it is an apartment I can't see you wanting to build a soundproof room.  The foam idea is not bad but I don't see how you will get it inbetween the floor and ceiling.

My personal opinion is to keep the bass where it is and tell the person below you "this is an apartment if you want piece and quite then move to the suburbs" what do people expect in apartments, that is why I don't live in one.
