I have a temp of 99.5?

Question

Is that considered a fever? Should I not go to school with that temp? I know it isn't high? But I am just wondering school regulations

also random question havine taken a hot bath about 5 minutes ago change my temp even if water wasn't in my mouth?

i generally run a temperature of 97.9ish. I am not trying to get out of going to school at all. I have a lacrosse game tomorrow i want to go to, but idk if i should go...i have a throaty cough, stuffy nose, and general weak and tiredness, and occational nausea, but never have thrown up

I don't WANT to stay home...my mom doesn't need to be convinced. My mom is trusting if i say i don't feel good she won't take my temperature. I was just asking. I need no excuses to convince my mom to let me stay home

My kids' schools say to stay home if you have a fever over 100.  I wouldn't stay home with 99.5 unless you were really not feeling well.

Anything past 99.0 is considered a fever. I would stay home and go to ther doctor, you sound like you have what I have which is a sinus infection. Hope you feel better. Btw you don't need to have a fever to be sick I didn't have a fever and have a sinus infection and I usually run 97.4 when I'm normal. And yes being in a hot bath changes your temperature.

I answered your other question. I would probably just stay home to be safe. That way you feel up to your game tomorrow.

BTW: I wasn't saying stay home for the temperature, but because you don't feel well.

My mom is a nurse and she considers this a fever.  She always made sure we were free of a fever for 24 hours before attending school.  That's also the standard my son's pediatrician set and we still go by.

99.5 is a safe number and is not considered high. I would go and make the best of it. You may get there and feel better, just being around your friends. School regulations dont fit to 99.5. If you just took a showe then yes your body temp is going to be affected.

I probably would not worry, everybody's temp varies though out the day.  The hot Bath could change your temp.  99.5 can be considered a fever but is not in a danger range.  But if you have the other symptoms it could be the flu in which case it would not be the worst idea to stay home, it could also be a cold,  more than anything else it depends on how you feel.

no this is not considered a fever. You should still go to chool but don't if you don't want to. If you really think it is to high take a cool shower or bath.
