  1. it might now grow larger (depending on how big you get it to start) but it will work

  2. Sliders, Cooters , painted ,map and yellow bellied are require the same care and feeding. They grow up to 12" IF they have the room and proper diet. Did you know that they need to bask under a reptile light for  8 to 10 hrs a day for the vitamin D that  they need to grow.

Leave the heater on 75 to 78 degrees always.

Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they p**p allot.

You need a good filter system!

You need to feed them feeder guppies, goldfish or minnows for protein and calcium daily.

They need leafy greens for vitamins at least 3 to 4 times a

Plus a BIG tank 55 gallons or more..

I have two that are 36 yrs old!! Plus an 8 and 5 yr old.

I have had them in a pond for about 6 yrs now..

  3. I have 4 red ear sliders in a 10 gallon tank because their 72 gallon tank broke. Just done put any decorations so they have space to swim.

  4. depends on the type of turtle, but most likely is too small.

  5. If i were you, i would get a bigger tank because it will grow bored very quickly if there isn't enough room for toys and fun things. there not that much more expensive and you should give the best life possible to yoour turtle

  6. A 10 gallon tank IS too small for a turtle....sorry.

  7. NO, not big enough.  A 2 inch long turtle will need at least a 20 gallon, and will soon outgrow that.  Even small species of turtles grow at least 4-5 inches and need 50 gallon tanks.  It is impossible to properly heat a 10 gallon tank to where one end is warm and the other cool.  Please check out Austins for complete turtle care:

  8. 10 gallons will be ok for a small turtle. But once it gets larger, you will need to upgrade. Just make sure to get a decent strong filter to provide good water filtration.

  9. Figure 10 gallons per inch of shell. For the smallest turtle you can get, it would require 55 gallons to house an adult. Consider musk, mud, and map turtles, if you want one that stays small.
