I made an appointment with an oral surgeon to get it removed=frenectomy. After I get this done, is the gap going to close on its own? I have perfect straight teeth its just the gap that is the problem.

I cannot get veneers because my two front teeth are kinda big and with veneers it will look humongous lol....HELP ME PLEASE : (

  1. hi

the  teratment  4 thick  frenum  is  frenectomy.  however the  gap  may  not  close  post  surgery. to  close  gaps  ortho treatment  if  possible is  best. veeneers could  b  another option. to  get beautiful  smile  u  might  have to  get  smiled designed which  may  involve  veeneers  on  upper  canine  to  canine. to make  all teeth  proportionate. talk  to  ur dentist  for  options

  2. I am 42 and have a gap inbetween my two front teeth.  I have decided to do something about it and the first step was to have a frenectomy which I had last Tuesday.  I honestly am the most nervous of dental patients and was shaking like a leaf.  The surgeon put two painless needles in the top of the gum and then proceeded to cut the gum out.  It honestly never hurt at the time and I have five stitches. ( I believe some surgeons also do laser),  After a few hours it was fairly sore but nurofen seemed to help.  In two weeks I am getting braces put on to move the gap together.  This will take two years and then will require wire to remain on the back of the front teeth to keep them together.

I would not think that the teeth will move together without help.  Do you really want to be my age before you decide to bite the bullet and get braces.  What is two years of your life to have a beautiful smile for the next 80??  Do it and it will be the best thing you have ever done!!
