I have a toddler and a 15 year old inside cat, and I have a problem with roaches lately in my home. They are about an inch long or more and I don't feel comfortable with spraying pesticides or chemicals. I've heard of boric acid and borax, but I want to make sure I have safe ways of using these or anything else that will help keep them away. Any suggestsions?

  1. Catnap may help keep out the roaches.

  2. Hotshot liquid roach bait comes in a 6 pack at your local walmart and is very good at controlling roaches. It has little decorative bottles that look like air freshner and can be placed in cabinets and on top of the fridge-basically anywhere you want to put them( as long as they dont get turned over  the liquid is self contained)I have 2 cats, a dog and grands running thru all the time and i feel cofortable using these as they can be placed high enough to keep out of reach of children and they have tops on them so pets cant get to the liquid.

  3. Well, roaches go places where toddlers and cats aren't going to go.  You know how they are - you turn on the lights and they scatter into cracks and crevices.  If you do the boric acid treatment, you can put it places where toddlers and cats won't go.    Eg, pull out the stove away from the wall, apply boric acid to the crack along the baseboard behind the stove, and then shove the stove back.  Your cat and your kid are not going to be moving the stove, yaknow?  You could also get little bait stations and put them on high shelves of cupboards that close.

I've also seen advertised little ultrasonic generators that make noises that are supposed to drive off bugs and rodents, but I have NO idea whether they actually work, and if they do, whether they would bother your cat or not.
