  1. The first answer is a good one. I like Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy. They are both free and do an excellent job.

Registry cleaners do not fix spware, malware, or viruses and they have no measurable affect on performance. It takes some expertise to use them safely, so I generally do not recommend using them.

There is no reason you should pay for any of these tools (unless you have specific needs the free tools do not address). Good ones are available free.

  2. Im afraid you cant install fresh without the CD. You may be able to sort something out im presuming with microsoft but i dont know.

    As with the processes:

booting to safe mode (you will need to install the files before booting to safe mode)

    http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.s...

    1, Spybot

    http://www.safer-networking.org/it/downl...

Download update and THEN immunize. Do a full scan

    2, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant...

Download, install, update and select Quick Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan

3, You can then uninstall spybot and malwarebytes after booting to normal mode

4, Do a clean up and use the registry cleaner to get rid of junk

    http://www.ccleaner.com/download

5 if the suspected processes are still there do a search here and act upon

    http://searchtasks.answersthatwork.com/

type the name and then see whether its bad

If you need help i get bored easily and will help over email if need be

  3. I'd recommend you to use a registry cleaner. I don't think it is a virus.

You can find information and reviews on registry cleaners at the link below.

  4. first run an anti virus software and change your booting from cd its unreliable

  5. Unfortunately to completely wipe your Operating System clean, you will need an OS disk. You can however locate and delete certain processes that shouldn't be. Depending on your current OS, be it 2000, XP, or Vista, there's a large difference in appropriate processes to allow all the time. If you think something is suspicious, take the name IE: "explorer.exe" (Even though explorer is the main process that gives you icons and a start bar) and google that name. There should be a few sites explaining exactly what it does, and where it's found so if need be, you can delete it.

You can stop any un-necessary processes from executing on startup (which means anything except for windows, including "ituneshelper" or a process that might run your wireless keyboard if you had one) by doing this:

Start > Run > msconfig > Boot tab > Click Diagnostic Startup.

Close the utility, and it will probably ask you to restart. Accept, or just restart anyway if it fails to ask. Once your computer boots up again, there should be a very minimal amount of processes running, this will give you an idea of what to investigate further for deletion.

I run Windows Vista on a Dell Inspiron 6400, I have 6 processes running that are essential to windows, and only 17 in total, including MSN, 4 for iTunes, Firefox, PowerISO, an ATI Graphics utility, one for my touchpad, and 2 for Windows Media Center.

    Good Luck!

  6. Use programs like spybot search and destroy (they are free)

  7. if you could get to the "run" in start, type in 'MSCONFIG'.

under startup and services tab clear all the unwanted and unnecessary processes.

it will make your system start fast and relive your pc of unwanted process burden.

    this is wat i do

  9. download avast, then upload all your files on virus total to see if you have a virus as they use many anti viruses to test you files.

  10. ok i can solve ur registry problem and processes on start up in one swoop, http://www.ccleaner.com/ it can clean your registry, repair it, and u can remove programs as well as delete processes on startup, i have about 4 processes now, used to be 25 and take 10 mins for laptop to start up lol also if your sure you have viruses try avast antivirus, its finds more than avg and saved my comp from a few trojans a while back, its a good choice. might just take some fiddling to get to grips with the options but its worth it. good luck
