  1. The dentist may refer you to the hospital.

I didn't want to go through the normal procedure so i was asleep during it using the gas thingy and i didn't feel any pain and didn't even realise it had been done!

If your cavity is really bad this may be a good way to have it done?

  2. A regular dentist can do an extraction and either replace the extracted tooth with a bridge or an inplant tooth.

This can be done under a local anesthetic (shot in the gum) and you will remain awake.

    Good luck.

  3. Depends on the dentist. Some general dentists are comfortable with extracting teeth, others are not. A general dentist can evaluate the tooth, take an x-ray and give you a referral to an oral surgeon, if they are not comfortable doing the extraction themselves. It also depends on how badly the tooth is broken down.Good luck.
