  1. thats what i run......okay so what you want to do you want to sprint like the first 200 and maybe get in front or up there and you want to keep a fast pace maybe slow down a twee bit but at the last 200 you want to sprint as fast as you can!!

  2. i run the 800!!! it is amazing!!!! i LOVE IT!!!!! take off with all youve got, get out in front and COMPETE, do not worry about time, worry about competing and doing your best in that race!!! try to beat that girl in second to last or whatever!!! be tough and COMPETE!!!!!!

    best of luck!

( i will be running 2 , 800 meters tomorrow, so wish me luck as well!! i hope to go sub 2:20!)

  3. Don't worry about coming in last, you can only do what your best is. The 800 is probably one of the hardest events, because you definitely need to have endurance and speed.

What you can do is a distance break down. What I do is two miles, rest for a while. Then a mile, rest. An 800, rest. and then a 400. Then I work my way back up.

You'll get better, don't worry. You just need to train your muscles to become accustomed to harder workouts and the 800 will be no problem.

  4. These tips should help you out for tomorrow's meet and any other future meets/practices. I assume you're a new runner. Don't stress too much; since you don't have much running experience, your times can only improve. With diligence, endurance, and patience, you can really shave unwanted seconds off your time:)

    Preparation outside practice:

You need to combine strength training with cardio to see optimum results in your performance. Do pushups, crunches, lifts, etc.; you can find variations of such strength exercises online. Variety is beneficial; it will truly challenge your body and take it to limits it has never reached.

    800m on race day:

Everyone paces oneself differently. If you're allowed to cut in right after the gun goes off, make sure you get a good start; don't let anyone elbow you in an attempt to push you back. If anything, elbow others:) Start out at a fast jog, and take it up a notch after the 200 mark. After your first 400, just hang in there; try not to slow down. When you come to your last straightaway, give it all you've got left. There's no one way to run for everybody; each person has his/her strengths and weaknesses. Try not to let yourself get psyched out. One saying I like to run through my head is "Pain is weakness leaving the body". It's a saying by the Marines, and it's great to think about when you're feeling mentally and/or physically

exhausted during a race. Good luck!:)

  5. i come in last a lot too, but i do the 400. just keep practicing and you'll get better. just don't worry. today before i ran i felt like i was going to faint or something but i tried my best and got it overwith. really though, if you dont stress out right before then it will make it a lot easier

  6. if you start quickely you would loose ur energy. you should go not to fast but not to slow. it will help you. also near the finish line try sprinting even though u may be dead tired just at least try. i may help you. also when ur practicing try running back and forth and tell yourself "okay i'm using 80% of my energy" then keep doing that then keep going lower and stop at 50%

  7. DON'T STOP RUNNING, NEVER EVER STOP RUNNING. I DON'T CARE IF OJ SIMPSON IS IN FRONT OF YOU, NEVER STOP RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  8. heres what i do. sprint out, get a  good start for about 75m. then u just coast for roughly 250m then pick up the pace. everyone slows down 3/4 of the way so thats a good way to get close and pass people. it hurts alot yes i know but it really works. at the final 200m mark give it all uve got.

plus u shoudnt be up right now. get 10 hrs of sleep the night before. sleep really helps alot. try eating some carbs and stuff like that. (i used to bring spagetti (icant spell xP) with me and i would eat it at the meet a while b4 my race) pb and j also work really well.

for training, have a strategy of how ur going to really run ur meet race and during practice perfect that strategy. have your body trained to handle the pressure.

hope this helps =] all this gave me a roughly 2 min 800m.

  9. track, and especially distance running is 90% mental toughness, and 10% ability.  If at all when you are running, you notice yourself in last place, DON'T give up because you will slow down.  Instead, make sure you think positively.  It helps to sing a song in your head or think of something you'll get to do after your run (I usually look forward to a snack or dessert I brought to reward myself after my races are done).

Remember, your body will achieve what your mind believes.  You may think that you can't run any faster or are too tired, and when you think this, you will slow down.  However, if you think that you can do something, your brain may be saying "no," but just keep running and know you CAN do it because your body RARELY cannot complete a task, although you may think you can't do it.

    Good luck!
