I have a trojan and cant download anything...HELP?

My AVG says it removed it, but I cant download anything like spybot or any cleaners. How can I do this...it took away my desktop and some administrator abilities. I'm doing a Trend Micro House Call since it doesn't require downloading. What else can I do to get rid of this?

You are infected, and you files are corrupted.  The best thing to do is Reformat. Here's hoping you have saved, ALL YOUR DOC, MUSIC AND PICS.  You can go to a computer store, and they can remove the hard drive, and they can save your documents.

You can insert your Windows xp Disc that came with the computer and the computer will do the rest. Just follow instructions.

But remember AGAIN, you will loose everything, so save your documents and music and pictures, etc.

Use another computer to download Stinger, and then put it onto a CD-ROM. After that you need to install it onto your computer, and have it scan your computer. Stinger is a program that detects virus's and deletes them, but it specializes in Trojan Horses. Now keep in mind that this is only a virus detector that only works when you scan. It does not protect you like other virus protectors. The link is below.

Another thing, I strongly recommend that you do not use AVG anymore. AVG is a good virus protector when it comes to grandparents (which are people that don't use computers that much). Also it does not do very good with getting rid of the virus. I recommend Avast (link below). Avast is a virus protector that specializes in detecting virus's, and in protecting you while you surf the web, and while downloading things. I use it, and it has saved my butt so many times. One other thing, it also works at keeping Adware off your computer. One thing you should know about Avast though, it does not have a scheduled scanner, and is not as user friendly as AVG when it comes to getting around in it.

Well there is a problem there but we kinda need more info to help you a whole lot. Just some things:

Can you do a Ctrl + Alt+ Del and get that up? if so click on task manager (or may be there) and then click on file. Select "new task (run)" and when the window comes up type "explorer.exe". Hopefully your desktop will return and you will have abilities to do more things.

How are u using trend micro if you don't have a desktop? (see below about internet access also)

AVG should remove it but it won't always. It may have caused some more dangerous problems that linger now that it might be gone.

I'm not exactly sure what you have and haven't got, Do you have the ability to get online (like you on another computer right now), do u have a start button? Can you open AVG and have it do another scan, and before that update it?

u need to turn off ur system restore its probably still there.
