I have a tub that I cannot seem to get clean, no matter what I do!

My bathtub is made of that white porcelain?ceramic? material that seems to be very porous and I cannot get it clean. I have used everything from comet, to scrubbing bubbles. to straight bleach, tons of the soap scum removers, nothing seems to work. This tub isn't plastic, it is just an older tub and tile shower combination. I can get the tiles clean no problem, but never the tub. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  1. 'Sno-bowl' works well...

  2. tub n tile, works awesome!! best part, NO BLEACH!!

  3. Try Lysol toilet bowl cleaner.  The stuff with the mostly blue label, not the green with bleach.

Squirt on, spread around with a scrub brush -- but you don't need to scrub very much.  The stuff whitens and brightens old porcelean far better than most products I have tried, and I've tried far more than even you.  Another consideration is Barkeeper's Friend, a product vaguely like Comet, but seems to work wonders on white porcelean, especially rust stains.

  4. there is a product called "the works" spray it on srub and rinse.  Try not to get it on your faceuts it will discolor the silver.  It is possible that all those harsh chemicals have damaged the finish on your tub and it may never look white again.  If the works doens't work you may need to stop with the really strong stuff they can make it worse.  My tub is also porcelain and the works made a real difference the first time I used it.  You can have a new finish applied to a porcelain tub.  BTW make sure you have goo ventalation!

  5. Try "Heavy Duty Zud" (Menard's) it's in the cleaning aisle there.

Otherwise try Krud Kutter - paint aisle at Home Depot

If that doesn't work, better call a professional

  6. I don't know if you've tried Tilex. I had the same problem & that is the ONLY thing that worked for me. I know it's frustrating!

    Good luck
