It might be a red striped slider but I'm not sure.  Maybe a picture would help.

you have a red ear slider. they are sweet pets who can get to be able 8-12 inches long when fully grown.

you need an awesome habitat to house these guys happily! redearslider.com is a great site with a good care sheet and they are dedicated to red ear sliders!
