I have a turtle but i dont know what type it is?

It is about 5 or 6 inches long and has orange spots running down its leg.

Not enough information. Try looking at a field guide if you know where it's from or a more general book, like Pritchard's Encyclopedia of Turthes.

if it is wild-caught, please return it in the area that you found it.  wash your hands.

it is a box turtle if it lives on the land.

it is a spotted turtle if it lives in the water.

my guess would be it is a box turtle.
