I have a tv that broadcast in 420p and 1080i only, is there a way to convert it to a 720p or 1080p signal?

  1. Tv's do not broadcast they recieve them.  If your television does 1080i then it also does 720p.  

    It will not do 1080p however.


  2. Actually  - for a few years Mitsubishi decided to try and force the issue of what "HD video" ment and their televisions refused to accept 720 signals - so the original poster could very well have one of these televisions.

    No - there is no easy converter to buy.

    Most source box's let you choose 720 or 1080 output. Check the setup menu on the BluRay player, Sat receiver or cable box.  If you are trying to use the internal tuner and the TV refuses to show you CBS in 720, consider buying an external HDTV tuner that can be set to output 1080.
