if this means anything?

I am assuming that it is either the condenser or the coil, how can I tell which one the problem is with and where can I find replacement parts?

  1. It could be the points or the ignition module, whichever one that engine has. Try searching the web or your phone book for small engine parts or small engine repair. You could just replace parts one at a time starting with the cheapest or easiest one.

  2. i had a 2 stroke stihl saw with same problem striped it all down checked wires for cut off ect in the end all that was wrong was a pick up from the flywheel was dirty gave it a quick clean and it started straight away

  3. Have you isolated the stop wire from the coil / ignition unit ?

Sometimes the wire chaffs and  creates a short circuit

Ignition coils do fail ,  but you can check the restitance between its poles

Is the gap OK ? between flywheel ?

Ebay might be your best bet for parts

Midland power do stock  copy parts,  but this engine might be obeselete

Lets hope its something simple ?

could be a spark plug, as I have had them fail even when new

Could be  ignition lead or connection to top of plug
