  1. Yea you can break him at this age but I would then turn him out for 1/2 a yr then he will be three

you can do a whole lot with him now

he is almost three if he was bred by  a real tb farm

But then if he is really big for his size , main thing is is his kness closed ? if so do a light breaking and go on from there

Gess so many think its a sin

it's not if done right and he get to be turn out for a few more months

we have done it for yrs

    and all stayed sound

  2. If you're not planning on racing him, then I would definitely wait until he's three before starting him (lightly) under saddle.  In the meantime, it would be good to do some light ground work with him--teaching him about being handled and how to behave with nice manners.  That makes everything easier later on when you do start him under saddle.

If you're planning on racing him, you at least need to wait until the knee joints are closed.  Some horses mature physically faster than others, so it would be wise to ask your vet to help you determine when yours can safely handle saddle training.

    Hope this helps!

  3. i 100% no the answer and it is when the horse is stilla weanling or a yearling  ESPECIALL FOR A THOUROGHBRED becase the older the horse gets then the harder and more useless it is to break it but as for consulting as vet to check his tendons you must be stupid to call for a vet because if you cant check the tendons yourself then you should give up horses for LIFE!!!!!!

  4. I think it depends on what you want to do with the horse if you want to jump him or her i would wait till about 2 and 1/2 or 3 because you dont want to brake any of their little bones trying to brake them in. and if you do brake their bone then you have to have them recover. But if u want to race him or her i say you can start now or 2 1/2. but when u go to brake them in whatever you do BE CAREFUL their bones are very delicate i have a 4 year old and i love him so good luck. and thoroughbreds are really nice horses so i hope you jump him or her but racing is good too.

  5. No offense to you, but if you don't know the answer to this, you shouldn't own a two year old that needs to be broken.  However, to answer the question, a horse can begin training and breaking when his joints are capable of handling the loading, consult your vet and ask for a soundness exam or at the very least radiographs of the joints in the legs.  Some prefer to break horses younger, for instance, the thoroughbred racing industry, and this does provide proper loading to ensure bones can hold up to the rigors of being ridden, however it can cause wear and tear on the joints.  I prefer to begin ground work at the end of the two year old year, and saddle work at three, with a vet's approval of course.

  6. You CAN break your horse at two,. and even if you are not sure about what age you should break them dosnt mean you shouldnt own one!!! DUH I had lots of people tell me not to buy a colt... but i did! first horse and turned out great no matter what anybody said!

  7. There are several schools of thought.  Breaking and schooling should only be done be experienced equestrians and trainers.

There are several books on the subject..
