I have a v4 85 horsepower johnson seahorse motor but no model no it is unreadable how can i find out the model

There should be a plate on the engine bracket that tells the model and serial number. Also it might help if you write down the numbers on the freeze out plug (on engine block) & call into a shop, have numbers looked up.

the answer you have gottnn is true... look all over the engine , cly.head etc.... write down all the numbers you see- even on the carb... some carb models were only used on some engines.....an check with your local OMC repair shop...good luck with your find..! ! !
