  1. Try a little wider stance. It will make it a little harder to slide and cause more rotation which will actually help in squaring up the club...

  2. kick your right knee in before you swing will stop hip slide

  3. Take a spare shaft and drive it into the ground where your left foot is positioned. Take your swing with your left foot up against the shaft. Try not to hit the vertical shaft with your body.To do this, you'll need to rotate your body rather than slide it.

    It works.

  4. take a shaft or chair like a folding chair or lawn chair and place it against which hip you don't want to sawy about 2-3 inches from said hip and try to swing without touchign the chair back

  5. Lou's got a great suggestion.

Also, you could try lifting your right foot a little on the downswing. It does two things, prevents you from sliding your hips and also ensures you will get your weight over to your left side (or you'll fall down).

  6. I get into that mode too sometimes. What I found works best is a long practice session in which I start out swinging in slow motion. Yes, I actually hit a ball this way. During my slow motion swings I concentrate on mechanics and timing. Turning my upper torso, keeping my right knee motionless (not kicking out), starting my downswing by starting my hands and body turn at the same time. I'll often spend a whole large bucket swinging this way. It allows me to put the club head square on the ball and gives me great distance and accuracy without over swinging. As my comfort level with my swing increases, I gradually increase my tempo. If my mechanics or timing get bad, I slow my swing back down and correct the problem.

Before you ask: Yeah, I get a lot of strange looks. ;)
