  1. could be clutch slip .


  2. Sounds like an electronics fault. Probably something to do with the one that tells the ECU what speed the car is doing.

    If its so old that it does not have sophisticated electronics it will be something to do with ignition leads, plugs or coil.

  3. Does the engine rev OK, or struggle to do so?

    Exactly what age & engine size of Fiesta?
