Question:

I have a very old oriental ashtray I need appraised. Cannot determine signature. Where to go?

it is glazed with "spur" marks. bottom ridge is unglazed. hand painted (looks like cherry blossoms) in black (stems), red (florets), and a bright green (center of each floret and placed sporadically on other red spots). The signature on the bottom is in dark blue and has 2 parts - a scrawly signature and just below, what looks like an inverted open umbrella. All hand done. No country of origin or date.

  3. Go to Ebay and to community discussion boards. There are many experts there willing to help. You probably should look under Pottery and Glass, and have pictures ready.

  4. Take it to any antique dealer.  If they cant tell you 1-they dont need to be working there and  2-theyll know where to send you
