I have a soar throat and it hurts whenever I talk or gulp/swallow. I went to the doctor and he said that its not serious and he gave he Cfezil. but only use it if there is spots on my throat. my throat is only swollen though. I have been taking extra strength tylenol and it barely helps. and whenever i gulp, it hurts so bad it makes my entire body like ache. anybody have any suggestions to help ease the pain? and i have been drinking water and having ice cream. thanks.

  1. I used to get throat infections often But I would just stick it out for about a week and then feel better.. I would sometimes take IB Profin...get rest...also i would gargle with half hydrogen peroxide and half water (DONT SWALLOW) to help get rid of the infection...but if its a virus theres nothing you can do but wait

  2. Ask a friend to pick up some throat lozenges that have an analgesic in it (the pharmacist will know)... it will help by numbing it.

Have warm fluids to drink and broth soups.

As well, gargle with a teaspoon of salt in a glass of water. You can do this several times throughout the day to help with the pain. Don't swallow it.

If it persists, go back to your doctor.

  3. I have not used this myself, but I hear gargling warm water with cayenne pepper is of help.Caution:cayenne is very "burny" to mouth, this I did experience myself

  4. It sounds as though you have some serious upper respiratory condition, like strept throat or tonsillitis, or some other serious condition.  I don't know what Cfezil is, but, unless you misinterpreted your doctor's instructions, those instructions sound crazy.  I had many upper respiratory infections when I was a child--strept thoat and tonsilitis (white spots on throat, very sore throat, etc.).  And once, a school doctor didn't give me enough penicillin for long enough time and my tonsilitis turned into a more serious condition, Quincy sore throat.  Telling you to take "Cfezil" only if you have white spots sounds absurd.  A culture should have been taken to determine which illness you have.

If I have symptoms like a sore throat that doesn't go away with gargling with warm salt water, (which often works wonders because salt is a disinfectant, but often you need powerful antibiotics as well), I go right away to an Emergency Room.  There, they can take a culture, xrays, blood tests, etc. and the doctor, after identifying the problem, can prescribe appropriate medications.  Often, if people don't go to the ER when they should and ignore symptoms, their conditions worsen and can sometimes be life-threatening.

Anyway, go to your nearest emergency room and have your throat checked out.  Most likely, it's some infection that requires antibiotics or further follow up with a specialist.  So please, don't continue to suffer.   Please go to an Emergency Room and get a second opinion.  I'm not an expert, by any means, but I do have a lot of life experience (and I've had a lot of sore throats).  You should go to an Emergency Room.  Then someone will take care of you, will help you with the pain by treating the cause, if it can be identified.  You will feel more relaxed and feel better with the right treatment.  Take care.

  5. try gargling with warm salt water...it tastes gross but works great...just mix a teaspoon of regular salt with a small cup of water and gargle as long as you can
