I have a computer virus and no matter what I do it keeps coming back - I have done a complete computer wipe, taken it back to its factory settings (luckily I managed to save most of my data onto discs) I have Norton Internet security but that seems to do nothing, just warns me I have an attack al the time. I keep getting 'Vista Anti Virus' trying to install itself and I keep stopping it - I cant win, please anyone help!!

Is there a free legitimate anti virus programme that might help me?!

Thanks

  10. Run a full system scan on norton. Then when it comes up with your virus click fix in if you have 2007 or 2008 etc in the attention required part.

If all else fails then I would NOT advise downloading a random sercurity programme. I think you should look around on your computer and look in documents, my computer, my pictures etc and look for any files or docs with random names or anything else and delete them.

    Hope it helps

  13. I would suggest that you uninstall Norton and get Avast. It is free for personal use.

Yesterday, my free anti-virus caught a trojan virus.

To ensure that the virus caught is not a false positive, I upload it to virus total web site to check.

    http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/c3558...

To my surprise, all the big names in Anti-virus industry cannot detect the trojan. The one that detect the trojan are mainly the free version.

Avast boot scan in Windows safe mode is the most effective way to get rid of stubborn trojans and viruses that keep coming back to haunt you.

These trojan and viruses hide themselves in system restore folder and many anti-virus programs cannot get rid of them. So whenever, you restart your PC,

the viruses are restore back by WIndows.

Avast boot scan help to get rid of them in the system restore folders and ensure your system are clean.
