I have symantec antivirus software, and it says its the most up-to-date antivirus thing there is. so i did a scan, because my computer was acting weird, and it turns out i have 2 viruses. and for some reason, symantec antivirus is unable to quarantine or clean it up. is there another free antivirus software that could do the job? or are these viruses here to stay?

  1. Download one of these free spyware scaners and delete it

    http://www.pcthreat.com/removers.html

  2. Threatfire may work but if it doesn't and you cant get rid of these viruses, take it to a computer shop and maybe they can get rid of it for you

  3. www.threatfire.com

It will get rid of it and it will run alongside symantec to make your computer safer,it's totally free.

  4. try this: http://www.f-secure.com/linux-weblog/200...

it's a cd with a virus scanner on it. you put it in your computer, restart, and then just follow directions.

the idea is that when you boot off the cd, it doesn't give any virus on the hard drive a chance to run any sort of 'protection' for itself, or jam itself into some sensitive part of windows where your run-of-the-mill anti virus cant get at it.

  5. If you know the name of the viruses, you can check on Symantec's web site to see how to remove them.

    1. Go to their A-Z list:

    http://www.symantec.com/norton/security_...

    2. Click on the name of your virus.

    3. Click on the tab marked REMOVAL for instructions.

  6. Everyone is guessing ...what is the name of your culprit?

Please post back with the name for us.

  7. Symantec usually is a very good antivirus program (my opinion)  but are you using a free trial version? has the trial time expired?  If any of the above mention  trial version has expired the updates will not work properly. But no matter what your computer still need some kind of protections so here is a link that you can click on to download and install grisoft avg antivirus program and it is Free. (http://free.grisoft.com) So click on the link to get started as your computer need to be protected right away. Good Luck

  8. This may not be a "real" virus.  Are they pitching for you to download some type of software?  Usually, if Symantec doesn't have an auto fix yet, you can go to their website and download a virus repair tool and do it manually.  You just need to know the name of the virus you are trying to get rid of.  If you are unable to find it on the Symantec site, there's a good chance it's a ploy for you to buy some other virus protection.  If it's not there, google it and read as much as you can about it.  Next time, include the name of the virus.  I wish I could've been more help.
