  1. You can't convert a visitor visa to a student F1 visa. You would have to exit the US and then apply for the F1 from your home country.


  2. You don't have to leave.  You can change visas right here in the USA.

    Enroll as an INTERNATIONAL STUDENT at at qualified educational institution.  You will be given an I-20 by the school.  The school's INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE will then assist you in changing status and getting an F-1 (Student Visa) without leaving the USA.

    You CANNOT enroll as if you are a US citizen or permanent resident.

  4. You need an F1 visa to be in the US as a student. You need to apply to a university first, then get accepted, then they will help you with the process by issuing an I-20 form. With that you must fill some other forms, go to the US Embassy or Consulate in your country to finish the process there. If all is good, you will get the F1 Visa stamped in your passport. Good luck.
