  1. Not making the court date amounts to contempt of court and is a further punishable offense. Get a lawyer to help you out with this. Why did you wait for a few years to take care of this? A lawyer can probably strike a deal to keep you out of jail by taking care of the warrant which is quite probably out for your arrest.

  2. Do you still live in Illinois. If not, don't go back. You can look up your old reports and warrants on-line if you know:

    #1 Municipal or Justice Court

#2 Your name, date of birth and SS#

#3 Docket # If your lucky enough to have it, very helpful.

#4 You should already know City, County and State. Where it happened.

Some states just want the first 2. The rest just makes things so much easier.

First google up the state court system ie:arizonajusticecourt.com.

    You'll be surfing like a M-Fer it can be a B.

Or just call em if you have the docket # and see if you can make arrangements. Probably not, judgement day is here. See how much you owe and pay all at once. Darn interest rate is almost like legal loansharking.

DON'T GO IN PERSON. I have horror stories, when making things right was the priority. Some folk just don't seem to see things the same as others.

  3. Turn yourself in. Go as early in the morning as you can so if it takes long you have a whole day to take care of it. Just take care of it now don't wait it'll only get worst.

  4. Hire a law firm and have them contact the authorities in Chicago. They will advise you from there. Do not, under any circumstance, contact Chicago yourself.

  5. Guys easy

You may have damaged property, but Chicage does things differently - like most major cities - they have the 3rd Municipal Court District of Cook County - the busiest court system in the world.

OK - the key question here is did you get a ticket - like a traffic ticket or did you get a complaint - it is on a 8 1/2 by 11 piece of paper - it would be white.

If you got the ticket - you probably were charged under city ordinance - if you got the other - you were charged under state statute.

The state statute for D/C is a class B Misdemeanor and the ordinance is punishable by fine only.

This is what I would do - if it is the misdemeanor version - find out what court they use - where it is located and I would surender myself to the court - bring a laywer with you if you want - you will get a Public Defender assigned anyway - because now you have a bond hearing - bring some cash in case - a bond will be set.  You probably have a warrant out for your arrest.

If it is an ordinance - call to try to find out if it is a payable ticket or court date is mandated.  Try to get another court date.  You will not have a warrant out for your arrest.

Chicago does not enter misdemeanor warrants into the state wide system called LEADS - they have way too many and would be traveling everyhere to get warrants - this is a reletively simple matter and can be rectified fairly easily.

  6. well my friend i feel for u i also was just  arrested for criminal damage to property. honestly ur going to jail if u turn urself in, im also considering canada....meet u there???lol sry i no ur scARED now is not the time to be on the computer.....seriously RUN

  7. Don't turn yourself in. I know a guy that turned himself in for a 19 year old DUI charge in Colorado....they threw him in county for 8 months.

Find a lawyer and have him contact the DA, see if they can work something where you stay outta jail.  My guess is you'll be fine, once you pay some heavy fines
