I am nervous to take it out of water cause I am risking its life. I really want to play with it though. Can I take it out of water?

  1. The various types of water frogs need to be wet at all times. They generally don't go far out of the water or even stay away from it for a while. I wouldn't suggest holding it out of the water. I never took mine out to play with them when I had some. I did though pet them and let them lay in my hand while my hand was in their water. You could do that. Good luck.

    EDIT:

Don't hold it under the water, let it have access to the air. It will still need to breathe. Even though the frogs are aquatic they still breathe air. I'll look for a link to pics of different kinds so, you can see what kind yours is. Good luck again.

    --EDIT:

I can't find a link with all types of aquatic frogs on it. Yours is probably a African Clawed Frog or a Dwarf frog. Good luck with your frog again.

  2. if you can post a picture it would be very helpful. if you bought it when it was in a tank, leave it in water. most likely it is an african dwarf frog, which are aquatic frogs and live underwater. you can't "play" with this type of frog.

  3. It is probably a dwarf frog. They can be out of water but not for long. My dwarf frog sticks to the side of my tank above the water line.
