hi. for some reason i told my dad i am shy and he said you are far from shy. you are terrified of everybody around you. And thats true. i am terrified of everybody in school. Yesterday we passed by some kids from school on the way home and i nearly slumped down my seat and hid under the dashboard. then my dad turned the radio up in out driveway and they were a few feet away from us and i ran out of the car and into our backyard to hide from them. and i dont know whats wrong with me. my dad was kidding around with me and making fun of me and said "maybe if i hide in the backyard they wont see me". or "maybe if i blend in with the grass they wont see me". any idea what could be my problem. and i dont talk to any one in school except for my friends. and i am scared to go back to school because of the people there. i mean i dont mind going back to school i just dont like the people there. please help. thanks:)

  1. What about the people outside of school?  Like in the shops or out on the streets. Adults.  Are you scared of them too?  Is home-schooling an option for you?  Sounds a bit over the top but no doubt it's very real to you.  What do you think these people are going to do that has you so worried.  I mean, you don't have to tell us.......rationalise it in your head.  For example:

Blob C:  *says to self*  'they're gonna kill me.'

Blob C:  *replies to self*  'oh get a grip, that's murder...won't happen.'

And on it goes.  Play out the possibilities and shoot them down with...........wait for it...........FACT AND LOGIC.

  2. are you sure you don't need a doctor this sounds way too serious

  3. Try to not care what people think of you and just be yourself, school will help you branch out to other people also.

  4. Not a weird issue.  You have low-self-image.  You must learn to like yourself in order for others to like you.  You aren't letting them get to know you.  Your Dad is trying to pull you out of your shell a little.  He's trying to let you know, he thinks you are terrific and so will others if you let them get to know you.  When you see others from school, just start making eye contact and say "hi" or "hey", that's all you need to do to start.  You are having "growing-up-pains".  It'll get better, I promise.
