My washer is a little over 5 years old none of the spin cycles works anymore no matter what the setting I put it on /perm press/delicate/ect.. The agitator works fine . Im not sure if I should have this repaired or just buy a new I would prefer to have it repaired if it wont be too expensive...

  1. If its still on a new warranty, get whirlpool washer fixed for free, or have the whirlpool people take at look at it, see whats needs to be done to it

  2. There are a few possible reasons this would occur:

    - the lid switch is not working properly

    - a faulty solenoid relay is not shifting the transmission into the spin cycle

    - the timer which controls the solenoid relay is faulty

    - the transmission itself is faulty.

In rare instances with belt-driven machines, a loose/worn belt will work in the agitation (wash) cycle but be too weak to spin the tub in the spin cycle. A burning rubber smell in your washroom would be a sign that the belt is slipping and needs to be replaced

  3. dude you can do it youself I did mine yesterday check these links

I found it is the switch or the drive coupler

navigate the appliance guru for the pictures of the parts and exactly how to fix it

    cost me 20 dollars

  4. Go to the place where you bought your washer. And see if they can figure out the problem.

  5. it can be the water level switch....the small medium and large loads switch...this switch believe it or not has a vaccuum line that runs to the main dial.  if the switch breaks then the vaccuum will not cause pressure to allow the machine to start spinning to empty the water and move on to the next cycle.  my friend told me that his washer would fill, agitate but not do anything else after that because of that switch.  i am replacing mine tomorrow. so i will let you know how it goes.

  6. You probably just need another belt

  7. FIX IT! It is not a difficult repair. If your are not confident enough to do it yourself, call in a local repairman.....have the make, model number of your washer, explain the problem. With parts and labor you are looking at approx $100.  (bear in mind most repair services charge $50 for a housecall) but all in all it is still cheaper than buying a new machine. I would check my Warranty, it may still be covered, or paretially covered.........many times they will pay for the parts and you pay labor (A GOOD DEAL).

  8. I am sure that it is repairable.  Call a technician to take a look.

  9. Mine did the same thing, it was the coupler under the washer. You can tell if it is that, there will be a little pile of black rubber chewed up under the washer.

  10. call a repair service.

just a side note: don't use Sears home repair service...the customer service is horrible...beyond horrible.  Call some local guy, ask your friends, neighbors, family for a referal.  Sears will lie to you about when they will be there.  You'll be out of work for a month or 6 waiting for them.
