I have a wi fi signal on my ipod touch but when i try to connect to it it says unable to connet to network...

It could be many things. You could be too far away from the source of the wireless singal to communicate with it. There could be encryption that you havent added correctly. There could be MAC filtering enabled to shut you out of the network. If it is not your network you will need to talk to the owners to find out how you can connect. If it is yours check your settings and make sure you are within range.
