  1. As far as I know its

Watch = It is happening in less than 36 hours (sometimes 48) and usually still some uncertainty about the severity of the storm

Warning = Within 12 hours and during the storm

Advisory = Usually means that you'll have some winter weather but should be to bad, but you should still pay attention and be careful.

  2. if you lived in Upstate, NY you'd know. LOL

  3. Easy, advisory means it might happen.

Warning, it's about to happen, and watch means it's likely already happening, probably in your area.

  4. warning-bad weather is there FOR SURE

watch-they are looking out for bad weather, as conditions could form <type of weather goes here>

advisory-kind of like a warning but less seriousness i guess

  5. basically, degrees of severity. An advisory tell you to take note of conditions, often for driving (ie, ice.) A watch is issued to notify conditions could arise, while a warning is issued when conditions are threatening are turn inclement.

  6. Here's a really good website that summarizes what each means and describes a good deal of the various watches, warnings and advisories that exist.
