Question:

I have a wireless network for my laptop it drops from 54 mbs to 24 mbs all the time and i have to reset it?

i have to go to wireless connection repair it or disable then reenable it to work right, then it does iy again after a few minutes. videos wont play at that slow rate. is it my computer or the router or maybe the modem?

  1. Your internet connection is no where near 24 Mb, and streaming video doesn't require anything like that to work properly.

    If video is choppy, it probably does further than the speed that windows is reporting on your wireless connection.

    The first thing I'd do is reset the router (unplug power, wait 20 seconds, plug it back in.)  (If it's belkin or netgear, I'd consider replacing it)

    2nd your wireless card in your laptop:  If it's not built-in, and it's belkin, replace it.  If it's built-in or not belkin, check the manufacturer's web site and see if there are updated drivers for it.


  2. try placing your router higher, on a cabinet, or on the wall, as high as you can. use netstumbler to see if you have other wifi on same channel in your area. use first last or middle channels,  

  3. Thia could be interference on the channel you are using, try changing it to a different channel number and see if things improve
