  1. Very likely it is slime mold.  Letting the flower bed dry out a bit will stop it.


  2. The one I know of is commonly called dodder.  It's a long string like plant that saps the host plant.  It has no leaves and may appear fungus like (fuzzy).    See if this is what your are seeing.

  3. there is a common slime mold that inhabits gardens called dog vomit fungus, check and see if that is it.

    Is it on the top or in the soil?

    Okay, well from what I hear I believe it could be 1 of 3 things...It could be a mushroom, A lichen, or bacteria growth pending....If it is rootlike, it maay be a mushroom.
