The nest , we think, is in the cieling of the bottom floor of the house, but in the floor of the main. Its right at the corner of my decking at my front porch and the siding of my house in front of my front door. What can I use that works to get rid of these pests. I tried using gasoline, which works for getting rid of them in the ground, but it left a gas smell all over my home and they still came back!!! Help!! ANTYTHING!!!!

  1. I'd call a pro.  But then again I'm scared of them ever since I stepped in a hole in the ground that they lived in when I was little.

You could try a spray - they spray pretty far so you can stand way back, but difficult to aim.

I've heard they can't fly when the temperature is under 50 degrees (F).  You could wait until a cold night maybe...but I don't know if I'd trust this.

A guy who used to mow my lawn said he had some powder that will kill them...?

Lastly, I've heard that one thing to do is get a small tub and fill it with soapy water (use dish soap).  Put 3 sticks in the tub, coming up to meet in a point, like a teepee.  Tie a piece of really high-quality fish to a wire or string, and hang this below the point of the teepee, so that the bottom of the chunk of fish is like 1/2 inch above the water.  Supposedly the hornets will try to get the fish, get soap on their wings, which somehow makes them unable to fly, and they fall into the water and drown.  Why they like fish, and only high-quality cuts of fish, I have no idea.
