  1. call your local scrap metal yard and ask what they are paying for brass.

  2. The MacGregor #314 is a close copy of the older MacGregor Tommy Armour Iron Master IMG series putters. The difference being that the IMG putters were made out of soft carbon steel while the 314 is made, as you say, out of brass.

I tried to find the 314 model in my vintage MacGregor catalogs, but none were found. That doesn't mean much on it's own though. During the mid to late 60's when your putter was made MacGregor was doing all sorts of crazy marketing schemes. For example, my neighbor uses an ancient MacGregor Jack  Nicklaus putter that he "purchased" through an offer on the back of a cereal box when he was younger!

I have seen a few model #314 putters for sale before. The prices have ranged anywhere from $10 all the way up to $125. The key desire in most vintage putters is the overall condition of the putter and if it has the original "name" band around the shaft.

Although there are many people who know more about MacGregor putters than I do, the best I've found is Randy Jensen at Classic Golf (in Omaha, Nebraska). He is known world-wide and has hundreds, if not thousands, of vintage clubs. Some dating back to the 1800's. His number is:

    (402) 554-0202

Incidentally, Randy Jensen is the 6 time World Hickory Champion. He is considered by most to be the Tiger Woods of vintage golf. Maybe even more importantly, he's a VERY nice guy.

    Hope this helps,

    Dale

    Portland, OR.

  3. Looking around eBay, a decent quality #314 goes from around 25 up to 50 dollars. So, not much. Nice putter though.

  4. HATE TO SAY IT TO YOU LIKE THIS BUT NO. THAT DOES DEPEND ON WHO MAY WANT TO BUY IT. YOU MAY BE LUCKY AND FIND SOMEONE WHO REALLY WANTS IT BUT DONT COUNT ON IT. ITS A NICE PUTTER JUST HANG ON TO IT.
