I live in Rochester Hills. I was digging out an old root cellar by hand thats in my back yard. On the very top lined up perfectly about 8 inchs below the surface. This house has been in the family since 1929. It was the great grandfather that made the cellar. Im not sure what year. These jars are from when the milk man came around Im sure. I have about 20 different types of jars. Im pretty sure everything was in glass years ago. Well anyways these jars are taking up room in my yard and i need to think of what to do with these things. I hate to just recycle them like my wife say. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance.

  1. Call an antique dealer. They could be worth something.

check the internet to see if you find any like them and what

they are worth or if they sell.

I wouldn' t recycle them till I checked out all possibilities.

  2. It would be wise to find out the value of these jars and when possible sell them to the highest bidder.

In any case, you are right to not recycle them. Consider taking them to a Thrift Store. There are still people around, who can. And the store can support a worthy cause.

  3. First off, try to find out the price they would sell for by going to the library or even checking online by doing a search on glass bottles

or antiques, or just put a price you think they are worth, and sell

them, having a discounted amount for a certain number, and one

price for each one individually. Then post the ad in some papers,

classifieds, and do not forget a great place which is free, like

CraigsList.org Here is the link, I looked it up for you for Rochester.

    http://rochester.craigslist.org/

Place a post under Antiques/Collectibles with the details and...

Good Luck! I am sure they are worth more than you would think,

to an avid collector!  Hope this helps!

  4. Keep them!!! They are most likely antiques! I just saw something about this on tv not 2 long ago. If they are like the ones i saw they are worth a lot of money!
