I want to buy it at a brand name store (best buy, Walmart target circuit city, etc.

  1. I would check out cameras at the stores you mentioned above, play with them, check out the features, but you can usually buy a $250+ camera for $200 if you shop online unless the big box stores are having great sales.

    There are several places that have great deals on cameras what could save you $50+. www.buydig.com, www.butterflyphoto.com, www.amazon.com, www.fotoconnection.com....

    My wife loves her Casio, and here is an example: Target has the Casio EX-S10 for $250, and www.fotoconnection.com has the same camera for $195 or $204 depending on what color you like. By saving some money on the camera, you will have left over money to buy a good size memory card and case. Anyone else agree?

  2. First find the camera you want here:  http://www.dpreview.com  look for one that uses SD/SDHC memory cards if this is your first camera ... if not, be sure you buy one that uses the same memory cards that your current one does
