The problem is, it is really expensive and I have to pay for shipping myself. I know the USPS offers M-bags, which is the most affordable option, but was hoping to have monetary assistance. Any ideas?

  1. I have the same situation. Books are fairly easy to come up with from schools and libraries that have excess, but finding someone who wants to pay for shipping them overseas is not so easy.  I would like to find someone to help me do this with mine too, because it is a very humanitarian thing to do. Yes, the M-bags are the cheapest other than using plain freight, where it goes overseas on a freighter. This is cheaper, so contact a shipping company who services your country. They go dock to dock though, so you will need someone there to pick it up. This will only cost you little money to sent a whole pallate full of books.

  2. Have you contacted any churches? If they can't help you pay for it, they probably know someone who can.

  3. I think they have done away with the M Bag. Perhaps you can get a business to sponsor this effort?

  4. I have a friend in the Peace Corp in Armenia now.

I'll check to see if there may be some procedures in place.

Where in Armenia were these destine for?

Additional Info: >>Ship them for free<<

I spoke to my friend working for the Peace Corp in Armenia.

She told me that Darien Book Aid Plan is what we are looking for.  They are a non-profit that ships books free to Peace Corps.  She has received shipments of books from them in Armenia.  She also received books through them while she was working on the Reservation in the States.  Check out their website for information on donating books, or if you are in the Peace Corps on requesting books.
