  1. It sounds like you might be in transit and some exercise would be in store. So get a 30 min taxi ride to the cafe strip at the base of Mt Eden and walk up Mt Eden for stunning views both of the city and the crater at the top. The walk will only take 45 mins to an hour total up and down. Have a coffee at the pleasant cafes in at the base of Mt Eden then get a taxi to and stroll around the Viaduct Basin which is where the Americas Cup was held a couple of time.  Finally a 15 min taxi trip to St Heliers for a tranquil one hour walk around the residential  bays from St Heliers to Kohimarama watching Aucklanders at play and looking out at the beautiful volcanic island of Rangitito.

  2. Have you been to Auckland before? Remember the airport *is* a little ways south of the city, so give yourself at least half an hour for the taxi ride each way. The other suggestion is really good. You could also go to the domain and walk around the massive park, botanical gardens, and the Auckland museum. Or maybe walk along Queen Street, go to the waterfront, take a really short ferry ride (just a few dollars) to Devon and walk up Mt. Victoria for a nice view of the harbor. Take the ferry back, and get back to the airport...
