And I'm on my own; my parents said they were not going to help me since they paid for my high school (private school). Will I be able to get all the money I need in loans, grants, and scholarships?

  1. there are millions and millions of available money to fund your college education you just have to know where to look.  ask your counselor if there are any scholarships you qualify for and continue asking through out your senior year becuase there are new scholarships all the time and also try fastweb.com.  make sure you apply for financial aid as soon as possible (first come first serve)

If you can try not to take any loans because the interest rates are generally crazy and you end up graduating college in major debt and have to pay twice as much as they loaned you

collegeboard.com is a good website to look into

    n e wayz good luck

  2. Depending on how much your parents make, you can get financial aid. I personally got a $hit load of free money because my parents dont work alot. I've never paid a dime and each semester i get close to $3000 for "college" expenses. but thats a state college. you can try either way, the financial aid deadline for next year is March 2 (its always march 2nd).

    http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

this is the website to try. What is your major? Usually every area has a program for incoming freshman. For example, I was premed when i first started and got money from them. Now i switched majors and am in an education program and they give me money. Do some research, then you wont have to pay a dime.

if all else fails, apply for a bunch of student loans, you wont have to pay til you graduate.

  3. You can try to go to

    http://all-about-scholarship.com

    it's about scholarships/grants information.

    Good luck

  4. With the costs of schooling so high, many students run into trouble paying their bills and end up with bad credit. Now you may be scared into thinking you cannot complete your education! However, there is still hope for cleaning up these financial messes. You can get student loans with bad credit from the government<!--the interest rates are low compared to other types of loans. If you go through a lender, your interest could be higher. There are different types of student loans with bad credit. . If you are an undergraduate or new student, two of the best student loans with bad credit are the Federal Perkins and the Stafford Loan. Both offer low interest for students.

Lets face it, getting a loan with bad credit is hard. You should try for one yourself first, and then if you don't get approved, find a co-signer. These issues with credit created student loans for people with bad credit. There are different types of loans in this category, one being the signature loan. Signature loans are activated-->after the receipt of a signed activation letter. Such a loan does not require a co-signer or collateral like other loans. If you have bad credit or no credit, your parents can help by getting a PLUS loan to help pay your education expenses.

  5. I had practically the same exact experience that you are having. My parents did not help me with anything while I attended college.

I would HIGHLY suggest that you look into a community college to complete all of your lower division coursework. Most of the classes that you'd take at a two-yr college are pre-requisites for a four-yr college degree. It costs much less, and it may be more feasible to get aid.

I dont know what state you live in. But in California, they have the Board of Governors waiver. You do not have to report your parents information, and it waives the cost of tuition for a Community College. You dont even have to fill out the fafsa.

If you do plan on attending a four year college, you need to fill out the FAFSA. This will require parent information. Depending on their and your income, you MAY be eligible for aid. It includes possible grants, subsidized and unsubsidized loans. There are also places that you can apply for personal student loans. One that I've found helpful is www.myrichuncle.com . Apply for your school's scholarships. Also try www.fastweb.com. For other scholarships, try your parents work companies, any afiliations that they have, as well as any groups that you are involved with.

    GOODLUCK!!

  6. In addition to what the first poster said, you should ask your guidance counselor if there are any scholarships available for your area of study, situation, etc. I'd also try fastweb.com, a scholarship website.
