I am for whatever reason allergic to kittens of all flavors and allergic to about half the cats I've encountered. It doesn't matter what type or what s*x so I'm not sure what exactly it is I'm allergic to. I heard that if your allergic to cats that there's a good chance you'll be allergic to rabbits. I want a pet that is small, furry, and relatively low maintenance. I love chinchillas but I don't have the time to properly care for one. I don't like hamsters or Guinea pigs. I was told get a rat cause I won't have allergies to it and there cuddly. Is there any other options? Or am I stuck with gold fish? I have a dog so I can't get another one.

  1. 1st choice Cockatiel  we love ours.

2nd choice Mini rex rabbit.  To touch one is to love one.  Check to see if you're allergic before you buy.  They have a short haircoat that may be less reactive.

  2. chincilla or guinea pig, they rock!

  3. Do get a rat.  They make amazing pets.

Consider a bird.  A parrotlet, cockatiel or lovebird would be a sweet companion.

    Reptiles?

Bearded Dragons are great pets.  Calm and people loving.

Russian Tortoises, Chinese Box Turtles, Greek Tortoises, Red foot tortoises all stay small and make great pets.  They have surprising personalities.

    Leopard Geckos are another option.

    Creepy crawlies?

Hermit crabs aren't cuddly, but you can watch them run around.

Insects, again, don't want a cuddle, but can be fun.  Roaches (yes, huge roaches!), tarantulas, millipedes, even crickets can be entertaining.

Are you into exotics?  They take more care and attention than the run of the mill pet, but if your into it, it's rewarding.

Look into Fennic Foxes and Skunks. (Seriously! Pet skunks!  They take the odor glands out surgically when they're altered)  They aren't for everyone!!!

Make sure you do lots of research and know what your getting into.

Unless your dog is aggressive with other dogs, there's no reason not to get another one.  You'll both benefit from a second dog.

  4. hi, you could get one of those hairless cats, I dont mind them and they have very unique personalities. If you dont like the bald issue you could go and get a few sugar gliders, there fun and VERY cute and there isnt really allergies for them, they do require alot of work though.

Rats are also good pets there cuddly.

    good juck getting a pet
