I have always earned my place in the national team, claims http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Farhat-c64218 – Cricket News Update
Keen to prove his worth at the highest stage of the game, Imran Farhat, the left-handed opener from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, has claimed that he has always earned his place in the national team on merit and his selection had nothing to do with his father in law, Mohammad
Ilyas, a former Test cricketer.
Farhat came through the ranks of junior cricket in the country, having represented the Green Shirts in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. After performing well in domestic cricket, the cricketer from Lahore made his international debut in 2001
during the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
Since making his debut, Farhat has been in and out of the national team due to inconsistent performances. He did impress in the recent tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 with a couple of impressive knocks but his place in the playing eleven is still not permanent in any
format of the game.
There has been an allegation on Farhat for using his father in law’s references. While talking to reporters however, the left-handed opener expressed that he has been able to make comebacks to the national team many times after performing well in the domestic
cricket of the country.
“Well I would like to clear that perception now. My father-in-law has his own status in Pakistani cricket and it has no connection with me. I am only included because I perform well in domestic,” the 30-year-old batsman said. “I make a comeback on the basis
of my domestic performance. I'm picked on merit, not due to family connections.”
Farhat made an effort to add value to his argument by revealing that he made his way to international cricket before getting married to Ilyas’ daughter.
“In the past players who have belonged to important families have played as well so this is not a new thing. They also played because they played well. I have been playing cricket before I became related to him (Mohammed Ilyas),” the stylish opener added.
Since the re-emergence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasir-Jamshed-c78752 in international cricket, there has been stiff competition for the opening slot in the national team.
