Today i was cooking on the grill and i noticed a storm rolling in. there was some lightning, later i walked two steps away and everything went quiet. Then i saw something come off my finger it looked and sounded like a static shock, then a millisecond late a big flash with sparks and a very loud explosion. the power went off in my house, after all of that i ran screaming in my house, wile i was doing that i felt nothing (numb you could say),confused and pumped with adrenaline. Later i walked by the tomato plant by my grill and the plant had burn marks. I know most likely i didn't get struck, but did the grill i was standing next to get struck and some sort of electric discharge was given off towards me?

I want to know, it had to have been the the scariest moment in my life.

  1. If your telling the truth your very lucky your alive.

  2. Yes, things like this happen all too often.  Count your blessing that you can still think and write coherently and that you aren't dead.  People have been struck dead on their decks.  We aren't even supposed to be near windows, or use the plumbing, etc.  Why don't you go to the weather channel, www.weather.com, and see what they say about lightening.  I'm glad it wasn't worse.

  3. Lightning hit somewhere close to where you were standing.

If the ground is dry, lightning can "walk" around until it

finds a good ground (like a water pipe) to latch on to.

When I was a kid, I lived in a house where the kitchen

faucet arced a blue spark to the drain when a bolt of

    lightning struck nearby.

Actually- you're very lucky you weren't standing in a puddle

or touching a grounded water pipe or something like

that. You wouldn't be here to tell the tale.

  4. did it burn your kabobs?!!

  5. thats awesome

  6. When lightning strikes something, there is a large electric discharge associated with the strike. Charged particles scatter outwards, and you must have gotten plenty of it. Taking such high current would do some damage, temporarily of course. I am pleased that you are here to tell your story.

  7. God sent His angels to you at that time. Do you believe in God? Wow, that is really something!! If you are not close to God , begin by thanking Him for sparing your life, or even worse, a lifetime of being a veggie.

  8. I'm not sure what happened here but... The feeling of being electricuted is like this.... you feel intense pain then nothing, all you see is black and feel nothing, like you're asleep. Then you wake up in your kitchen which is like 10 feet away (you somehow walked there while you were in thios "black" state because noone is home) and you think daaaaaaa ****???? Did i just get electrocuted.

  9. I'm not really an expert on those things but I think some sort of electric related thing attracted the lightning to your house and it might have been your grill because even iPod headphones get struck by lightning but the good thing is you're still alive and your house isn't on fire!!

    It's ok!!!

  10. You're still alive to tell the tale, that's the main thing.
