PUBLIC SERVANTS?AS a combat vet(Marine)we policed ourselves and made sure no war crimes were committed and if they were we didn't cover for the guilty. My friend spent 6 years in jail on bogus charges trumped up by police. They twisted his words and coached lies to so called witnesses.Thankfully case evidence has cleared him of all charges. Before this happened I fully trusted the police and viewed them as hero's.Now what do I do If I need to speak with them?

  1. Cops only want the truth in a case if it comes easy. If they actually have to do some investigating they want the easiest way out (lying to try to get you to confess, twisting your words, etc.)

  2. there shouldnt be any reason for you to talk to a cop... have a question ? ask your mom . have a problem ? ask your dad for advise... (it don matter whats your age)... cops will lie to you for any reason, their not your friend, they most chances wont see you again. why would they care... good cops bad cops ? yeah ok... you think there's cops out there with a perfect life, perfect conversation skills and perfect attitude... ?

i used to think, "i hate cops, but not all of them... i know there's good cops" guess what... you could get a "good" cop one day because he just happened to find a really good and cheap donut spot, and the next day, that same cop is smashing a kid on the hot hood of the car because he dropped jelly on his uniform. hello excessive force.

so with that... I seen a "good" cop... unfortunately the next guy was stopped at bad timing, and seen the "bad" cop...same officer though...

  3. cops will cover for each other, just like anyone else.just be sure to stay on their good side.

If you have good solid evidence take your proof to the highest office in your state and turn it in.

  4. There's no authority you can automatically trust.  All you can do is estimate your chances based on what you know about the record of each one.

This is why jingoism is nonsense.  Cop forces, armies, governments are human institutions.  Trained soldiers may be more resolute in their support, out of necessity, but in the final analysis such institutions earn the trust people have in them, or don't have in them.

  5. Penalties for abuse of power should be swift and severe.

But where I live (at least), cops can kill people while driving drunk and not even be arrested.

  6. It looks like your mind is made up.  I'm not going to waste my breath convincing you how misguided you are because I don't care if you trust the Police or not.

I do find it odd how your friend spent six years in jail for a bogus charge and then was cleared by the evidence in the case.  I would love to see a link to the story from a credible source.

  7. Answer this the same way you would answer:

"I'd like to trust the U.S. Marines who are here to try to rescue my contry from an enemy, but when I search Google for MARINE CONVICTED, I see them committing terrible crimes here and at home, and my friend was killed by a Marine, and he was just a working guy they said was enemy militia but I  know he wasn't, and I see that some of their fellow Marines went along with lies to cover them, and their command didn't act until it was a public issue."

You can say, well those things didn't happen in my unit. I can truthfully say they didn't in my police unit, either. Answer one, you've answered the other.
