  1. Just give her everyday objects, and she'll play happily on her own for a while. Kids don't need expensive or flashy toys, especially at that age. My daughter is the same age and at the moment she loves: marbles (you can get bigger sized ones if you're scared of her swallowing them), toy train (without tracks though), dolls (she loves pushing them in her dolly pram), teddies, a little tea set, stones, wooden spoons and pans, stacking games,...

Also great, great fun if you're not worried about the mess: Put rice, lentils, beans or suchlike in a plastic tub and maybe some cups, a funnel and spoon. She will love this! And you might too.

  2. anything that makes noise...

there is some toys that are sound activated.. young children love these.. when they clap or squeal the toy makes  noise and the baby does it again.

    hope this helps

  3. See if your library or book store has the books Things to Do with Toddlers and Twos or More Things to Do with Toddlers and Twos.  Try a google search for "toddlers activities" - you'll get lots!!

The great thing about 18 month olds is they like to do just about anything! Don't be afraid to do messy things, like fingerpainting, sand and water play, etc. I used to put a tub of water on a towel on the kitchen floor along with various toys (measuring cups, spoons, her dolls, cars to wash, etc.)  and dd would play for a long time.

Put on music: dance and sing!

There are some great free activity ideas here: http://www.ghbooks.com/activity/. Scroll down to "infant and toddler".

  4. if you look on the c-beebies web site there is always activitys, idea stuff to print out and do.  I find this great as they are always topical to the season and they have a great parents/carers section as well.  Also if you look on the www.nickjr.co.uk they are great to.  Hope that helps.

  5. Well I work in a toddler day care room (13-26 monthes) so I can give you some ideas. they love blocks, puzzles, those shape fitter things, pop up things, books, music stuff, little people, toy cars, any messy art activities, dolls, dress up clothes, coloring, play dough

you can have her help you bake cookies, make any kind of food with assistance.

as you know they know and can do alot more than you originally might think. they love to help out and act as mini mes.

instead of buying new toys i would buy books with ideas on games and crafts and try to use what you have... i think they like using old boring things you have laying around over fancy new toys

save thinsgs like papertowel rolls and stuff like that and see what fun things you can do

just make sure there is nothing she can choke on!
