  2. There were more than one mint used to strike the 1881 Morgan dollar. The mint mark if any is on the eagle side near the bottom below the wreath. The 1881 no mint mark (Philadelphia) $14-$18 in circulated grades, 1881-CC (Carson City) $305-$345, 1881-O (New Orleans)$14-$18.50, 1881-S (San Francisco) $15-$18.50. The values are for the grade range very good through almost uncirculated. Values are higher if coin is in a mint state grade.Value are about what a dealer would pay for undamaged and uncleaned coin.

  3. What mint was it made at?  Look for the mint mark near the date.  It should show an S, CC, P or O.   That will actually make a difference in the value.  What does it look like?  There were at least three types of silver dollars made during that time period.  Also, what condition is it in?  I suggest taking it to a coin dealer who will give you an estimate of the value for free.
