I have an 1981 850 special bike, HOW do I make an shaft drive ridged on stock frame?

the bike is intact just an basket case, I know the guy that started this project and was there when he took it apart I would like to make it into an chopper but am having trouble w/ shaft drive/ Do I have to tilt the engine?

  1. Going with a stock frame could limit your options. Maybe no need even to tilt your engine. If you tilt the engine, there will be more adjustments to make. Look at the BMW models, they are even horizontally opposed, on the level, although they use the shaft drive type.  Don't be limited in the second "triangle" portion of the stock frame. You can tweak it a little, but first take a good serious look at how Aprilia or Benneli or Suzuki, etc. make the delicate adjustments, without affecting the ride. Then, work on some patterns, and when you're confident and contented with the outcome, you can work on your stock frame.
