  1. I always found this worked in a lot of projects like this.

    1. Mix 2 parts white school glue with 1 part water

    2. Soak pieces of toilet paper in the glue-water till they are wet

    3. Scrunch up and mold the toilet into pieces that can act as bones (look at diagrams to make sure you have enough bones and in the proper proportions).

    4. Let them dry at least overnight

It can be a bit messy, but this makes surprisingly strong "bones". You may have to try different ways to attach them, but just off hand I imagine you could attach (duct tape?) a piece of thick rubber band to the top and bottom of each finger bone, leaving a space at each joint between the bones just wide enough for the fingers to bend when pulled, but close enough that they spring back. You then would need to make some sort of sleeve to run string down the inside of each finger (attacked at the finger tips) so that when they are pulled from the "wrist" end the fingers bend. I'd probably fold a piece of tape over itself (so its no longer sticky anywhere) and tape both ends to the finger leaving a "bump" in the tape for the string to run through.

Once assembled, with a little tweaking, you should be able to manipulate the fingers individually by the strings. Good luck!

  2. beads  (long , short and round) on elastic cord would work

  3. Like a model of a wrist and hand with fingers that can move? Try using cardboard from toilet paper or paper towel rolls as the "skin" and attach rubber bands inside for "tendons."

  4. 7th grade? Geez... I hope they at least gave her a graph of the hand. Bobbins would make good knuckles. You could use the holes on the outside to attach what you use for bone
