I have an 8G USB Flash drive that is only allowing me to store a little over 3G worth of pictures. Why is it?

  1. Check to see if it doesnt contain hidden files. Go into my computer, click on Tools>> Folder Options>> View. Scroll down and check where its written "Show hidden files and folders". If there are hidden files on your stick they will be shown.

    This is the only logical reason i could think of, hope it worked.


  2. is the flash drive already full?

    did you partition the flash drive?

    Plug it into your computer and go to Windows Explorer then check the drive by right clicking on it and selecting 'properties' this will tell you what the capacity is. how much space is used and how much is left over. If you see 2 drives for the 1 flash drive then it means the flash drive is partitioned.

    Also look in the files of the drive in Windows Explorer to see whats there.

  3. 1. Install good Anti virus software, some viruses do that.

    2. Format (low level format even) flash drive

    3. Faulty? Replace at the store.
