So I have a debit card hooked up with my paypal account and when I sold something it went to my Paypal Account balance

Well when I bought something it subtracted from my Paypal Account balance...NOT my debit card

Is it suppose to deduct from the balance instead of the Debit Card?

  1. If you don't transfer the balance from your Paypal account to your checking account, Paypal will use the money in your Paypal account to pay for a purchase before it looks to your checking account.

  2. Yes

  3. When you buy something, it will always come out of your PayPal balance first.

If you bought something for $100, and only had $50 in PayPal, then at the time of purchase PayPal tells you that your pp balance is short, and asks you where you want to take the remaining $$ from (either your linked checking acct or a linked credit/debit card).

  4. The first answerer is dead on.  It comes straight out of your paypal.  The debit card is there to deposit your paypal balance into (from items you sell) and if you run short on money in your paypal account, you can transfer the remaining money you need from your bank account into your paypal.
