I have an F-1 student visa valid until 2011, if I stop studying, how soon will it be revoked?

I am an Indian citizen. My parents came here for work and I managed to get in with them on a dependent visa. Soon after, I had it changed to a student visa so I could go to college. I just want to know how the "must be studying" requirement fits in with the student visa being maintained...

Well, revoked is one thing, but out of status is another, especially if you want to change over to H4. You can't change status if you allow yourself to fall out of status on your F1, so proceed carefully. If that's what you want to do, you need to put in your paperwork on the change request while you're still in school.
