...only the HD channels look good and the other channels appear a little fuzzy. My old projection TV produced a better picture. What do I need to get the other non HD channels to come in more clear?

  1. Are you using the HDMI cable connection from your tv to your box? This will provide the best picture & sound. If you're already using this, I would say you have to call your provider.

  2. Nothing you can do.

Your new TV is a ultra-high resolution display.

Your standard def channels are 1940's technology designed for a nine-inch tube.

The problem is old-tech TV signals on a display designed after sixty years of computer advancement.

    MY ADVICE:

Find the channels you get that are not HD.  Note the advertisers. Write a letter to the station and the advertisers saying how you will no longer watch their channels (or commercials) because they look so bad and that you are only going to watch HD from now on.

This will light a fire under their tails.  Advertising pays for all of television and its millions/billions of dollars to the station that puts on good shows just so you will see the commercials.

  3. You need to call your cable provider and pay for the HD channels.

  4. I suppose your referring to the new converter box for analog tvs.  Try getting a better antannae and stringing it up along your wall. When I first got my converter box it didn't look good but then I fiddled with the antanae and taped it close to my window.

  5. I think you need to call your cable or satellite company.

  6. SD channels will always look fuzzy on an HDTV because when you scale images from low to high resolution, you get video artifacts.  The less scaling, the better an image will look.  If your projection TV looked better than your current TV, then I would say that your new TV is higher resolution.

To get the best image quality, use HDMI and change your TV to 4:3 aspect ratio for SD stations.
